From handwriting stories in her grade school notebooks to typing up whodunits, Palestinian-Canadian writer Dara Mohd always knew that she wanted to put her stories in one place – on paper. At only 16-years-old, she published her debut novella “A Darker Side of Dorcha” in 2023, a small-town murder-mystery following two old friends from college, now a journalist and a detective, brought together again in the year 1919 to investigate the murder of the woman they both loved. Intuitively intrigued by the grotesque, her enthralling writing delves into dark themes, holding a poetic magnifying glass to the startling nature of man and society. Currently, she is writing her second manuscript and will begin her undergraduate studies in Philosophy and Theology at the University of Oxford in the fall.
