About The Author

Lee Bennett Hopkins was a poet and anthologist who was honored with the Christopher Award, the University of Southern Mississippi's Medallion for "lasting contributions to children's literature," and the NCTE Award for Excellence in Poetry for Children. Marla Baggetta is a fine artist and free-lance illustrator whose work has appeared in art galleries, books, advertising, and magazines. She lives in West Linn, Oregon.

"Hopkins paves the way for children to think about the alphabet (and perhaps poetry as well), by offering one word for each letter and then a short, non-rhyming poem of definition that includes at least one more word also beginning with the letter. . . . Likely to be a popular choice for teachers to use in the classroom." —Kirkus Reviews"A clever and child-friendly book of pithy poetry. . . . Both classes and individuals will find something here to ponder and play with." —Booklist
