About The Author

Wilhelm Hauff (1802-1827) was an extraordinarily prolific writer. The freshness and originality of his talent, his inventiveness, and his genial humor have won him a high place among the southern German prose writers of the early nineteenth century. Lisbeth Zwerger is one of the most highly regarded translators and illustrators of children's books and was awarded the Hans Christian Andersen Medal in 1990 to recognize her lifetime contribution to children's literature. She is the author and illustrator of numerous books including The Pied Piper of Hamelin, The Little Mermaid, and The Selfish Giant for minediton.
