He was co-author of A Field Guide to the Reptiles of East Africa and Dangerous Snakes of Africa and author of Kenya: A Natural History. Steve has written many key papers on the reptiles and amphibians of the region.

Tomás Mazuch is a Czech herpetologist and author of Amphibians and Reptiles of Somaliland and Eastern Ethiopia.

Abubakr Mohammad is an independent researcher on the natural heritage of Sudan, and he is the country's leading expert on its herpetofauna.
