About The Author

Sprout Home opened in Chicago in 2003 and launched its second store in Brooklyn in 2007. Both locations offer full landscape design services specializing in contemporary garden design and rooftop/deck container gardening, plus products and plants for urban gardeners along with hand-picked home goods. TARA HEIBEL has done monthly gardening segments for ABC Morning News. She has also made multiple appearances on the CBS Morning Show and writes a regular gardening column for The Huffington Post.  TASSY DE GIVE has appeared on the Martha Stewart Living radio show and has been featured in numerous publications, including the New York Times, Nylon, New York magazine, and InStyle, for her gardening and floral design.

As seen on The Chew, in Sunset, HGTV, Better Homes and Gardens, Redbook, Details, The Nest, New York Magazine, Giada Weekly, and many more…"A fresh, creative approach to indoor planting."—Wall Street Journal"Full of inspirational images and ideas around decorating your interiors with indoor plants…a gorgeous guide that focuses on the joy of choosing, caring for, and displaying indoor plants"—SF Girl By Bay "Showcasing designs that are unusual, innovative, and modern, Sprout Home garden boutique founders Heibel and de Give offer a green thumbs-up for home decor. They explain that the key to successful indoor gardens is marrying the right plants to the right location and conditions—all in a container that complements the style of the home."—Publishers Weekly "In homes where space and time are precious, the future of the humble houseplant may depend on whether it can earn its keep. Rooted in Design, demonstrates that houseplants can be a beautiful and creative element in a home’s decor."—The Washington Post “Indoor gardens benefit from good design just as much as outdoor ones…From wall-mounted displays to hanging baskets and windowsillcontainers, the book’s sleek yet accessible suggestions make it an especially useful resource for jazzing updorm rooms and small apartments.”—American Gardener“’Creative indoor planting’ says it all. From small planters made from such found objects as teapots to suspended English ivy as ‘living curtains,’ integrating indoor plants with home decor can bring unique flair to interior-decorating schemes large and small. On a deeper level, using plants as part of the indoors creates more calming and natural surroundings and a way to stay more connected to nature. Organized by plant placement—on the walls and ledges, in the air, in the kitchen, and more—Heibel and de Give’s guide provides technical information on DIY planters and holders, watering, and edible indoor plants, accompanied by creative encouragement. Dramatic color photos appear throughout, and the authors present a charming and amusing grid that matches plant types to personalities and lifestyles. For example, the Drama Queen goes big with large houseplants, such as dragon trees, while Design Geeks prefer Tillandsia air plants in their spotless homes. With a glossary and detailed index, this is boldly informative and energizing.”—Booklist
